Windows 11 Release Date Has Been Announced – Here Is When And How You Can Get It

After 6 years, it’s finally here!

Microsoft’s Windows 11 finally has an official launch date and it’s coming to operating systems near you on 5th October this year. In a statement released on Tuesday, Microsoft said that it will start offering free upgrades to the new version on 5th October to PCs that fit the criteria.

Windows, originally released all the way back in 1985, changed the whole outlook (pun intended) of the operating systems and became an instant hit with users all around the world. It delivered about $6.6 billion in revenue in its fiscal fourth quarter, representing about 14% of the company’s software and hardware sales. It wouldn’t be a gamble to say that the release of Windows 11, 6 years after the last version, would increase the company’s sales yet again and secure the franchise’s future. (Now, if they can it easier to change the default browser settings, that would be great)

Some of the highlights of the new Windows update include a clean and fresh UI design with personalized widgets. It also claims to be the best Windows for gaming with the use of technology like DirectX12 Ultimate, DirectStorage and Auto HDR. Since the pandemic took over and gave rise to the work from home culture, Microsoft Teams has become an integral part of almost everyone’s routine; from students taking their online lectures online to employees having their meetings. So many people would be thrilled to know that Microsoft has integrated the chat feature of Teams right into the taskbar so you can quickly access the application without any hassle.

So which devices would enjoy a free upgrade to Windows 11? It seems like Microsoft is going with their old technique of analyzing the on-device data and other factors to determine if the device is eligible for a free upgrade or not. Aaron Woodman, Windows marketing manager, wrote in a blog post, “…The free upgrade to Windows 11 will begin rolling out to eligible Windows 10 PCs and PCs that come pre-loaded with Windows 11 will start to become available for purchase.
