Wind Generated A Record Amount Of Power In Britain In 2022 – And It Is Set To Increase

In 2022, Great Britain is recorded to have produced a whopping amount of wind-powered electricity, according to the National Grid.

More electricity came from renewable and nuclear power sources than from fossil fuels gas and coal, the second highest after 2020.

The only way to save the current degradation of the planet is by shifting to sustainable and renewable sources of energy while minimizing dependence on fossil fuels.

Besides being environment-friendly, wind and solar are massively cheaper and should lead to lower bills in the long run.

Scientists, governments and the UN state that shifting to renewable power is vital as the effects of global warming are already here, including in the UK and southeast Asia, which last year recorded its hottest year since records began.

Gas was recorded to be the single most significant source of electricity last year, the National Grid Electricity System Operator (ESO) said, but electricity from wind turbines increased in significance.

Overall 48.5% of electricity came from renewable and nuclear power, compared to 40% from gas and coal power stations.

On a single day in November, more than 70% of electricity was produced by wind, or around 20GW. This amount of power can easily heat about 1700 homes for a year.
