Whatsapp Will Now Allow Users To Download Deleted Media Files

whatsapp

In the latest update, Whatsapp has introduced a much-needed feature which comes as a relief for most of us who need to delete the media files from the phone’s gallery due to low storage space. The new update allows the users to re-download media files like images, videos etc even if they have deleted those images locally from their file manager.

The new feature is available for the latest version of Whatsapp as reported by Wccftech. Currently, it is not sure that since how long the function has been made available but the above-mentioned version of Whatsapp surely works. The files which the users deleted from Whatsapp itself were not retrievable in any way. The feature will only work if you have removed the files from Gallery or File Manager.

After you have updated your Whatsapp to the latest version, when you delete a media file from Gallery or File Manager you can get it back again by opening the required Whatsapp conversation or Group where the files lie. In Whatsapp, you will see a burred thumbnail of the file with a download button on it. You can download the file again by simply tapping on the icon. The Android Police team tested the feature for all kind of media files like images, GIFs, videos, audio and documents and the feature worked for all of them perfectly.

This is still risky for some of the users as they don’t want to keep the media files in gallery due to privacy issues. Whatsapp has a solution for that and it’s called Media Visibility feature. This feature will let you hide downloaded media from your Gallery. You can control this feature by visiting the settings in your app.
