Watch The Very First Test Footage Of The Insane 5,000-HP Devel Sixteen Hypercar

Footage has finally emerged of the Devel Sixteen on the test track, and it has received a surprisingly mixed reception for reasons not fully linked to the performance of the vehicle itself.

Devel Motors, the United Arab Emirates upstart developed in 2006, aimed to build an audacious hypercar, the Devel Sixteen, fit for the region’s high-end auto market. However, it hasn’t seen the spotlight for a while, but a “proof of life” clip on its YouTube channel has assured the development of Batmobile-looking machine and is now experiencing various tests on the grounds.

The driver was only using 20 percent of the throttle in the video, so we’ll have to wait and watch what the full-on experience looks like, but it’s definitely a start. Unfortunately, it looks like the Devel Sixteen is still a long way from being delivered to customers. However, the video at least gave us a chance to hear that naturally articulated engine.

The finished Devel Sixteen consists of four giant 81 mm turbochargers, enabling it to reach a speed of 350 mph (563 km/h). The company has heavily invested in the car’s development thanks to Michigan-based custom builder Steve Morris Engines, who has already built its motor. With a massive 12.3-litre V-16 engine and a claimed output of 5007 horsepower and 3757 pound-feet of torque, the Devel Sixteen is anticipated to move from 0 to 60 mph in less than two seconds.

In the latest footage, Devel Motors show a prototype of their vehicle without the turbos. The footage, however, is of low quality, and the car was not properly shot, which made it look quite bizarre. It might not be something expected out of a top-notch Dubai-based hypercar manufacturer company, but at least it’s something. Have a look at the test footage below and decide it yourself:
