Would you believe it? A Tesla Model 3 Performance has left a Ferrari 458 behind in a 1/8-mile drag race. The Tesla Model 3 Performance had received the OTA Peak Power Increase update from Tesla. As a result of this update, the Model 3 was able to boost its peak power by a total of 5% and saw an increase in its top speed of about 10 km/hr.
The Ferrari 458 is a quick car that features a V8 engine and is considered to be one of the best sounding V8 ever to be produced. It was launched in 2009 and has been reviewed by people from all over the industry. It comes with a price tag of $239,340 for the basic version — the price increases for variants such as 458 Speciale.
The Tesla Model 3 costs $35,000. However, when the two cars are pitted against one another; no one expected Tesla to be the first one to cross the line first. But it did! The black Tesla is clearly the first off the mark, and despite the best efforts by the Ferrari, the win was a sure win from the very start. According to the owner of the video, the Model 3 Performance was able to run the 1/8 mile in 7.4 seconds whereas the Ferrari 458 completed the same distance in 7.6 seconds.
Tesla cars are quite fast. The model 3 without the Peak Power can do 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds. The car also has the Track Mode feature that enables the vehicle to run multiple laps in a closed circuit without losing power. In Track Mode, a model 3 was able to match the performance of a 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4 in Willow Springs International Raceway in CA.
It goes without saying that over a longer distance, the Ferrari 458 would have beaten the Model 3 without a doubt. However, it sure is fun to watch a lot cheaper car beat Ferrari in a drag race of 1/8-mile. Check out the video below and do let us know what you think of it!
The internet is full of this kind of stupid videos without any real life meaning.
I would like to see how fast is a Tesla on a circuit where you have also curves not only strait short lines.
The Tesla Model 3 Performance v ersion costs $60,000, not $35,000. And nobody runs for 1/8th mile times. The Tesla has only one gear – after it hist 80, it bogs
