Nature is always thought to be beautiful and mesmerizing. However, it can be terrifying and devastating as well. There are some events that cannot be controlled, and the consequences of their escalation can be destructive to an appalling extent. The recent video circulated where the church is being shown to be razed in ashes is one of the examples of this. It occurred on the Spanish island of La Palma.
The island has a total population of 85,000 people. This month, the island was shaken to the core by the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano. The volcano engulfed more than 500 buildings and 12 miles of roads. This was according to The Washington Post reports.
The portion of the bell tower of the church on the island got in the trap of lava. It showed how strong and unbeatable the force of lava is.
On Friday, new vents caused more blistering lava to spew forth, almost five days after the volcano started erupting.
Currently, the volcano is dying and becoming less violent. It is said to be transitioning towards its “low activity” phase, according to the Associated Press.
It is now claimed to be moving towards a steep slope where it will finally meet the shore. Last Monday, it was seen that the lava still had half a mile before it could reach the ocean. When the lava finally reaches the water, it is expected to start plumes of water that will be significantly hot, causing death threats. There was a warning issued by a Facebook post from the officials from Involcan, the Canary Islands’ volcanology institute.
Once lava hits the water, a thermal shock creates plumes of hydrochloric acid and shards of volcanic glass. These can lead to skin irritations and inflammation of the respiratory tract.
