In 2019, lead designer Franz von Holzhausen threw a metal ball at the Cybertruck’s “armor glass” during its launch, resulting in a cracked window rather than the expected demonstration of strength. Musk later clarified on Twitter that a prior sledgehammer impact had compromised the glass, leading to its failure during the ball throw.

During the recent event, Musk, known for his showmanship, recreated the stunt with von Holzhausen attempting the ball toss again. However, keen-eyed observers noted a significant change—the ball appeared to be rubber-based, more akin to a baseball than the metal ball used previously.
