We thought these self-steering bullets existed only in sci-fi movies! But it looks like the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has already made this a reality, with their Extreme Accuracy Tasked Ordnance (EXACTO) program.
EXACTO has managed to create self-steering ammunition, which has real-time visual guidance system able to track and direct the bullets to the target. The system works in real-time and compensates for the ever-changing factors such as weather conditions, moving targets, wind speed, etc.
Naturally, this technology results in greater hit rates for both long and short distance shots, along with increased efficiency in ammunition usage. The video below shows how both experienced and inexperienced shooter can get bull’s-eye using the technology.
