Watch A Game Developer Run Doom In Notepad Without Any Mods

You will now be thanking Microsoft for shipping Notepad with every single PC. Game developer Sam Chiet has now made it possible to run the famous, old-time game, Doom on this application without any modification, Tom’s Hardware has reported.

The game developer is known by his username Samperson on YouTube. He often experiments with Microsoft’s often-forgotten tools and features. For example, Chiet gave Clicky, the clickable Office Assistant, a voice and thinking capability using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and told it that his end was near.

Luckily, his latest project is more lively in which he replaces the graphics of the game with characters and numbers, and what you get is the ability to play Doom, right inside Notepad. If we didn’t know it better, it would be easy to think that the project was a product of the frustration of being locked up with an old computer without an internet connection.

The new owners of the game, Bethesda added new features, like support for 60 FPS, just a couple of years ago. However, Notepad is unable to write characters that fast, some screen tearing in the video clip can be seen.

Chiet states that the game is ready to be played and is excited to share it with the fans.

For the people who just cannot wait, Microsoft has given Bethesda some time back and offers the option to play Doom inside Minecraft. You will need to get your hands on a Windows 95 PC inside Minecraft and a simple keyboard tap.
