Video Shows A Shopper Smashing A Phone In Front Of Staff And Calling It A ‘Rip-Off’

Shoppers have been left stunned after a CEX customer smashed a phone in a raging row with staff.

A clip posted to TikTok showed the man stamp on the device before smashing it over the corner of the counter before slamming the shop as a “f***ing rip-off”.

Care worker Shanice said that she had gone into the shop in Weymouth, Dorset, to buy a video game and was shocked by what unfolded. She had been waiting in a queue at second hand electronics shop CeX on Saturday when a customer in front of her began shouting at staff.

The 29-year-old quickly whipped out her phone and captured the scenes that unfolded next as the unidentified man berated staff for his newly purchased mobile phone.

Footage shows the man who appears to be in debate with employee Jacob Adams over whether he can return an iPhone he had purchased from the same store earlier that day.

After allegedly being informed of the refund process for his phone, the man – dressed in a plaid shirt, waistcoat, flat cap and worker’s boots can be heard saying: ‘You know what you can do with it?’

The fuming customer also accused staff of selling him “f***ing s*** that you can’t do anything with” and called the phone a “piece of f***ing s****”.

He even hit the silver iPhone so hard on the counter that his watch fell off his wrist and onto the floor. Shocked shoppers queued in silence behind him as the outburst unfolded.

The user who posted the video to social media, Shanice Ealson, 29, captioned it: “Didn’t expect this.”

After breaking the phone beyond repair and picking up his watch, the man turned to storm out of the shop.

All the while, a group of shoppers stood around aghast at what was happening before their eyes. And it seems as if that shock and confusion has carried on into those who have watched the video online.

However, many others have pointed out that whether or not you think the phone is bad, it’s probably not the fault of the poor lad behind the counter.

One reason I don’t miss working in retail,” a comment said.
