We have seen a number of apps that work in conjunction with your smartphone’s camera to give you an idea of what you are about to eat along with the number of calories. However, today’s gadget is on a totally different level than those amateur apps. Say hello to this smart cup known as Vessyl that has been designed by Yves Behar and produced by Mark One.
Yeah, right, smart cup – pfft! Give me a break. That is what you’re thinking, yes? Stop right there folks; this cup is more than just your so-called average smart cup out there for it is capable of analyzing whatever it is that you are drinking in it. It also comes with an accompanying app that will allow you to track your intake. So, you were saying?
The Vessyl is elegantly beautiful and has been designed by one of the best designers out there. The cup is hand-wash only and requires no complex instruction manual to understand how it works; all you need to do is tilt the gadget a little and the display comes to life. The accompanying coaster is also a wireless charging pad for the gadget. The lid has been designed to be non-spill and comes in several colors whereas the cup itself is available in three shades; Shadow, Snow and Steam.
Mark One’s CEO, Justin Lee, stated that; ‘Within this field of consumer health, we’ve seen these really interesting activity trackers. But what we consume — our food, our beverages — is just as important, if not more important, than burning calories through exercise.’
The molecular sensor that has been incorporated into the cup is quite a wonderful piece of engineering and as per Lee, the sensor is advanced to a level where it can differentiate between Pepsi and Coca Cola. The Vessyl can measure your caffeine intake along with the amount of fat, calories, proteins and sugar you’re intaking.
The gadget will be sold at $199 but can be pre-ordered for $99 with the shipment time being announced as early 2015.
