Elon Musk is the target of a lawsuit brought by former Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal and three other former executives, who claim they are owed over $128 million in severance payments. This legal dispute is only one of many that Musk has been involved in since he bought Twitter, which is now known as X, and fired Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and attorneys Sean Edgett and Vijaya Gadde right away.
According to the lawsuit, Musk has a personal grudge against these officials, particularly Agrawal, who supposedly went above and beyond to keep Musk accountable for his $44 billion pledge when he tried to back out. The lawsuit claims that Musk’s actions are motivated by a comment from Walter Isaacson’s biography in which he states that he wants to “hunt every single one” of the former C-suite executives at Twitter.
Musk has specifically targeted Gadde, pointing out that she participates in Twitter content moderation decisions. Memes making fun of Gadde accompanied Musk’s proposal to buy Twitter, which sparked a barrage of racist internet criticism against her.
This case is hardly the only instance of Musk underpaying former workers. Along with lawsuits over unpaid rent and subsequent office space evictions brought about by Musk’s management of the company, a number of former Twitter employees are also waiting on their severance money.
Although he hasn’t shown any proof, Musk is said to have accused these former executives of “willful misconduct” and “gross negligence” in their letters of termination.
Musk’s actions are described in the case as a habit of withholding money owed to others and making them file a lawsuit in order to get it. According to the plaintiffs, Musk’s actions cause needless delays, inconveniences, and costs for others who aren’t as well-off to handle such difficulties.
