This Weird New Photography Cage Is Shaped Like An Assault Rifle

The StockCam is a unique camera accessory designed for photography enthusiasts who desire multiple mounting options for various accessories and improved camera stability and handling. Its design resembles that of a modern assault rifle.

If you enjoy both photography and guns, you might appreciate StockCam’s design. It combines the convenience of a high-quality camera accessory with the aesthetics of a contemporary firearm.

The StockCam even features a trigger that can be used to activate the camera’s shutter or secure the accessory to prevent accidental pressing. To operate it, you press the back part of the accessory against your shoulder and view the camera display as you would through a scope, then use the trigger to capture a photo. However, caution must be exercised when using such an item in certain situations.

When I first encountered a video showcasing the StockCam on a lesser-known website from Japan, I initially thought it might be a humorous concept. The notion of concealing a camera accessory within a realistic firearm design seemed potentially hazardous. However, upon further examination, it became evident that significant thought had gone into its development.

The StockCam offers an array of practical features, including multiple mounting points for accessories like microphones, lights, and additional camera lenses. The trigger mechanism is designed to function similarly to a genuine camera shutter, enabling light presses for focusing and firm presses for capturing shots.

Interestingly, the designers intentionally sought to create a genuine gun appearance for the StockCam. They could have chosen to use vibrant colors like yellow or orange, but instead opted for a black finish that enhances its resemblance to an actual firearm. Even in the promotional materials, the individual showcased is seen wearing a vest reminiscent of military attire, albeit with the Rockstar logo, implying a deliberate military-inspired look.

While using the StockCam to photograph birds in natural settings might pose minimal issues, it is crucial to exercise caution when employing it in urban areas, particularly within the United States. The realistic appearance of the accessory makes it highly susceptible to confusion with an assault rifle, potentially resulting in adverse consequences. Prioritizing personal safety and carefully considering the risks associated with its use is of utmost importance.
