This Three-Wheeled Scooter Has More Power Than Most Motorcycles And It’s Not From Who You Think

Taiwanese manufacturer Kymco has introduced the CV3 575i, a three-wheeled scooter positioned as the most powerful model in its category. The vehicle challenges conventional expectations of scooters by combining high engine output with touring-focused features.

The CV3 575i enters a segment traditionally dominated by commuter-oriented designs and lower-displacement engines. Competing models such as the Piaggio MP3 and Yamaha Tricity 300 have emphasized accessibility and stability, but with comparatively lower performance figures, according to Kymco.

At the core of the CV3 575i is a 574cc, water-cooled, inline two-cylinder engine producing approximately 51 horsepower and 51 Nm of torque. This configuration marks a departure from the single-cylinder setups commonly found in competing three-wheel scooters. The model is capable of reaching a top speed of around 158 km/h, placing it closer to mid-range motorcycles in terms of performance.

The scooter uses a continuously variable transmission paired with a centrifugal clutch, along with a belt final drive mounted on an aluminum swingarm. This drivetrain setup, combined with a 160-section rear tire, reflects engineering choices more typical of motorcycles than traditional scooters.

Kymco has also equipped the CV3 575i with a range of electronic and rider-assistance features. These include traction control, cruise control, and selectable ride modes such as Tour and Rain. A six-inch TFT display provides access to system data, including tire pressure monitoring. Additional features include keyless ignition, heated grips, adjustable windscreen, and multiple charging ports.

The vehicle’s three-wheel configuration incorporates two tilting front wheels with independent suspension. Kymco’s Advance Leaning Suspension system allows the scooter to lean up to 40 degrees while maintaining stability. Braking is handled by a three-disc system supported by ABS, with controls distributed across hand levers and a foot pedal.

Weighing approximately 282 kilograms with a full fuel tank, the CV3 575i is significantly heavier than most scooters. However, its three-wheel design reduces the need for balance at low speeds or when stationary, which may appeal to riders seeking additional stability.

The model is priced at around €11,999 in France, with introductory pricing slightly lower. Availability varies by market, and it is not currently offered in all regions.

The CV3 575i reflects a broader shift in the three-wheeled scooter category, moving beyond basic transportation toward higher-performance, feature-rich vehicles designed for longer-distance riding and increased rider comfort.
