This Smart Pot Has An Animated Face That Tells You How Your Plant Is Feeling

Incorporating house plants into your home’s interior is a great way of bringing splashes of color. However, that is not the only reason why house plants are welcome in a home. They also help in purifying the air and can even provide pleasant odors to the interior. However, caring for the house plants is generally a guessing game. That is where Lua comes in with its innovative solution!

Lua has transformed caring for plants into a fun thing to do. It uses cute animated faces that are displayed on the front of the pot to let you know what the plant needs. It is currently raising funds on Indiegogo. The idea is quite similar to the digital pets that could be seen almost everywhere a few years ago. Lua is sensor-packed and can help you understand what your plant needs.

Lua has a 2.4-inch LCD screen located on the front display that shows an animated cartoon face. This animated cartoon face changes based on the needs of the plant. It will display a thirsty face when the moisture in soil drops under a certain value and will display a sick face if you end up watering it too much. The face changes to a smiling vampire if the plant is not getting enough light. These animations change based on the data that is being collected by sensors that have been embedded into the gadget.

It also features a movement sensor, thus enabling the eyes of the animation to follow you as make your way past the plant. You can use a QR code scanner for setting it up and having the sensor info delivered to your smartphone app. The plant pot measures in at 5.9 inches in diameter and is 6.3 inches tall. It weighs 500 grams and comfortably sits in its own saucer. It gets its power via USB.

Pledges on Indiegogo start at $110. If all goes well, the shipping will commence in December. Check out the following video to learn more about Lua!
