NIO, the Chinese startup formerly known as NextEV that created the world’s fastest electric car NIO EP9, have now brought NIO EVE which is a self-driving car straight out of a sci-fi movie.

NIO EVE was revealed at SXSW, and the mere look of the automobile’s gorgeous futuristic exterior and lavish interior makes you wish that 2020 comes sooner, which is the targeted year for the car’s launch.

Comparable to the self-driving vehicles like Mercedes’ F 015 and Peugeot’s Instinct, the EVE also claims to have level 4 autonomy which means you can simply sit back and relax in its ornate and sumptuous leather cabin as the futuristic car does all the driving for you.

The EVE has an AI assistant called NOMI that not only controls the car but can also gauge the driver’s health and mood, such as tired, excited, drunk, etc. with the help of its sensors and act accordingly. The car can learn passenger’s interests and show customized information through its transparent dashboard display.

The inside of the car looks like a cabin of a private jet, with every feature designed for pure luxury and premium travel. Reclining chairs are complimented with a fold-out table. The car also has special compartments for your stuff while the chairs have touch-sensitive control panels from where you can control and guide the automobile.

The massive windshield is a huge pane of glass stretching from the front all the way to the back, making sure that anyone who looks at the car goes “Whoa!” while the passengers inside can get a full 360 experience of their surroundings. You can even use the roof as a screen and play your favorite movies and videos on the giant glass.

The car can also be called remotely like a Tesla Model S, and you simply need to wave your hand to slide open its single-sided door which switches between opaque and transparent.

NIO has not revealed any specs about the horsepower and top speed, mainly because it is will another concept car that isn’t really built for commercial use. But if the automobiles in the future are even remotely close to this, it’s going to be an exciting prospect indeed!
