You need a lot of practice, skill and a whole lot of luck to win Rock-paper-scissors. However, no matter how good you are at it, the robot from the Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory in Tokyo, Japan will always beat you! It has a 100% winning rate up till now and from the looks of it, the winning streak won’t be broken.
The robot looks like a hand with three fingers that has been perched on a stand and is capable of recognizing the play of human opponent and counters it 1 millisecond before the human is able to complete the move. In simpler words, before you are able to put out rock, paper or scissor, the robot has already ascertained your move and has beaten you. It relies on high-speed vision for anticipating and countering the opponent and thus maintain its 100% winning rate.
This is the 3rd revision of the robot champion. The first iteration played the move 20 milliseconds following the human finishing the move. The second iteration completed the move at the same time as the human and also held a 100% winning record, however, this current version allows the robot to have a 1 millisecond advantage over the opponent to win the game.
As per the Ishikawa Watanabe Laboratory, this latest version demonstrates how robots and humans can interact without experiencing any sort of time delay in the future. Check out the amazing robot in action and let us know what you think of it.
