This New UAV Hunter Can Destroy Drones 15,000 Feet High In A 4.3-mile Range

Elbit Systems has introduced its latest air defence innovation, the Red Sky system, designed to counter low-altitude aerial threats.

The Red Sky air defence system from Elbit Systems has state-of-the-art capabilities intended to successfully identify, disrupt, and neutralise unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The Redrone electronic warfare (EW) solution is made up of several different parts, including the COAPS-L electro-optical (EO) payload, Signal Intelligence (SIGINT) sensors, DAiR Radar, and RF jammer. Complete protection is promised by this tactical Very Short-Range Air Defence (VSHORAD) system, which combines hard-kill and soft-kill defence capabilities.

To enhance its capabilities, the Red Sky system provides a variety of hard kill setups. The TORC 30 Advanced Air Defence Turret is one of these variants; it is outfitted with IR missiles, quick-firing anti-aircraft cannon, and anti-drone capabilities. The system may also react to different threat scenarios using MANPADS missiles such as GROM, IGLA-S, SA-16/14, Mistral, or Stinger.

One of Red Sky’s most notable characteristics is its “smart shooting” capability, which guarantees accurate targeting only after verification. Additionally, the system can jam UAVs, strengthening its defensive capabilities. Red Sky’s adaptability also includes its remote operating feature, which allows for effective single-user control, 24-hour operation, and performance in all weather.

Red Sky is significant because it can address the growing usage of UAVs in conflict areas worldwide, provides a strong defence against changing threats, and is more affordable than missiles and conventional air defence systems. Red Sky is a potent defensive tool in modern conflict scenarios because of its capacity to carry out rogue drone overrides and guarantee safe landings.

A significant development in VSHORAD technology, Elbit Systems’ Red Sky air defence system provides a comprehensive defence against low-altitude aircraft threats. Its incorporation of cutting-edge technologies like jamming and smart firing highlights its effectiveness in contemporary combat situations.
