This New Tool Uses ChatGPT To Make Websites Using Only Text-Based Prompts

WhimsyWorks, a New York-based company, has recently launched MetaGPT, a powerful tool that enables users to build websites, apps, and other digital products using only text-based prompts.

Unlike other no-code website builders that rely on drag-and-drop interfaces, MetaGPT is powered by OpenAI’s ChatGPT, an AI chatbot that can write code.

With the release of GPT-4, a more advanced version of ChatGPT, OpenAI demonstrated how AI could be used to build websites and apps using natural language prompts. However, the actual rollout of this service is still pending.

In the meantime, WhimsyWorks has stepped in to develop a simple yet effective tool that allows people to create digital products by simply chatting with an AI, much like working with a web designer.

Working with MetaGPT is a breeze as it eliminates the need for writing code or struggling with complicated interfaces. Users can simply enter their requirements in a specific format, and the tool generates the desired results almost instantly. MetaGPT also allows users to refine their creations by providing opportunities for successive iterations, leading to a product that meets their expectations.

MetaGPT has already been used to create over 11,000 web-based apps, including a queue management system for a clinic and a Tinder clone. The tool is available for free for users to create one web-based app with four iterative changes. Users can also subscribe to the service for a monthly fee to create unlimited apps.

While services like MetaGPT and AutoGPT address users’ needs, OpenAI could potentially build on their success to stay ahead of the competition.

Shortly after the release of GPT-4, OpenAI launched ChatGPT plugins, which were expected to revolutionize the number of plugins developed to extract maximum functionality from ChatGPT. However, the company has been cautious with the rollout of GPT-4, and the plugins market has yet to take off.

Nevertheless, the potential for AI-powered tools like MetaGPT to transform how we build digital products is immense, and we can expect more innovations in this space.
