Innovations in the field of home appliances have come a long way in making our lives easier and convenient. From dishwashers to refrigerators, there seems to be a machine for everything these days. One such innovation is Eeva, a washing machine designed to sit where your laundry basket normally sits.
It is capable of washing and drying a load of laundry in 90 minutes and is water and energy-efficient. It consists of a small and relatively portable washer/dryer that runs quietly and deals with hot moisture internally so that no hot, humid air is vented into the room. It can be used in places where you wouldn’t normally put your laundry appliances, and it only needs a water hose, a wall socket, and a 2.5-gallon canister to get the job done. The LCD touchscreen allows you to choose between modes and track your water, energy, and carbon emissions saved through the smartphone app.
In addition, the machine uses a special detergent developed by the designers, and a full wash/dry cycle only uses around 300 Watt-hours of energy, making it ideal for long trips with a caravan or RV. The machine is currently being crowdfunded on Indiegogo and has surpassed its target by over 7,000%. It can be pre-ordered for $899, including 60 washes’ worth of detergent, with deliveries expected in October.
Eeva could be a game-changer for those living in RVs, campers, or tiny homes due to its convenience, speed, and portability. However, the company only delivers in North America, and standard crowdfunding cautions apply.
