Tail Lights Rider Safety System serves one purpose and that is to ensure that accidents and collisions, which end up hurting and killing thousands of horses and riders each year, cease. It has been introduced by Tail Lights, a startup based in Michigan. The LED lighting safety system has been designed for the horses to impart safety and to ensure that motorists can determine the presence of a horse at the scene.
The system is a compact version of its predecessor, Tail Lights Pro, and is based on a very simplistic concept while being composed of two units; front and tail units. Each unit sports LED lights to warn the motorist of the presence of a horse. The front unit has been diffused to ensure that it doesn’t impair the horse’s vision. It is basically a badge that can be attached to the breast collar or to the rider when bareback riding is in progress. The tail unit has been created by using four strands of LED lights that stream down from the tail. It gets attached to the base of the tail via proprietary wrap.
The system is controlled via remote that is handheld and allows the user to switch the lights on and off, select light pattern, adjust the brightness and to change the colors (pink, green, red and many others). The gadget is currently raising funds on Kickstarter and is slated to raise $18,500 for the tooling and production. Pledges are priced at $155 and if all goes well, the company shall begin shipping in December. The founder and CEO, Sami Gros, will tell you more about the system in the following pitch video.
