This highly anticipated sky pool is between two new residential buildings in London’s Nine Elms business district. It is about 35 meters above the ground and almost perfectly see-through. It connects the two buildings meaning you could swim across to the other building if you like. But everything being see-through gives you the illusion that you’re actually swimming through the sky. Hence it is aptly named the Sky Pool.
The pool was designed by HAL Architects. It measures 25 meters in length made out of acrylic all across and designed to hold up to 148,000 gallons of water. The sky pool is one of the key landmarks of the new residential buildings. The Embassy Gardens are a new home development in the Nine Elms and Battersea Power Station regeneration zone. They are designed to house almost 2,000 people.
The sky pool might just become a niche tourist attraction and the coolest place to take a dip in all of Britain. Just don’t go skinny dipping okay? Will save a lot of people the discomfort.
Making and transporting such a thing must have been very challenging but the real challenge would have been installing the thing without any errors. Reports say engineers and workers only had inches of tolerance while installing the pool.

Thanks to modern technology and architectural innovations, Sky Pool can handle the natural movements of the two 10-story buildings it connects. According to HAL Architects, it is not rigidly connected at both ends; it can slide from one side to the other while maintaining watertight integrity. According to the Chairman of Ballymore, developer of Embassy Gardens, “The vision for the Sky Pool stemmed from a desire to push the boundaries in the capability of construction and engineering, Ecoworld Ballymore wanted to do something that had never been done before”.
He also added that “We like to push the boundaries on all aspects of design, the Sky Pool’s transparent structure is the result of significant advancements in technologies over the last decade. The experience of the pool will be truly unique, it will feel like floating through the air in central London”.
