David Mayman was an Australian commercial pilot who donned a real life jet pack to casually cruise over the River Thames. The amazing footage featuring Mayman flying over the Thames looks something taken from the film Gravity, a cross between a rocketeer and an astronaut.
Aided by an industrious team of engineers and designers, Mayman had been trying to build his own jetpack for more than ten years. Mayman’s jetpack was nothing like the usual tacky, water-propelled Eastbound and Down jetpacks. Watch the outrageous video below:
Mayman also wants to develop an electric version of the jetpack. Lucy Sharp from Seedrs Investment defined the target market for the jetpack:
“This is for the City boys who grew up in the 70s and 80s and dreamt of being a real-life Iron Man. He’s in talks with the US navy to give it a use beyond commercial flights. He’s done over 400 test flights and they’ve all gone smoothly but it is jet fuel on his back so it can be dangerous.”
