This Company Is Building The Biggest And Deepest Indoor Pool In The World

Blue Abyss is building a pool that they are calling the world’s largest indoor pool, with the capacity to hold 1.5 million ft3 (42,000 m3) of water and would aid in a series of testing.

The largest indoor pool would be built at Cornwall for testing advanced undersea robotics, which has also been taken over by AI in recent times. The deepest indoor pool would serve the scientists and engineers as a platform to test the newly built underwater tech before setting them off to the real world of waters.

Blue Abyss will also play its part as the world’s first commercial astronaut training facility that would simulate weightlessness just as in space. Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center is one of the most renowned training facilities, it includes full-size module replicas of Soviet and Russian Spacecraft, but couldn’t replicate the weightlessness as the Blue Abyss would do for the first time, opening new gateways for testing space technology down on earth.

Pools prove excellent for testing many nautical technologies, and what else would do better than the Blue Abyss loaded with advanced systems to serve as a testing platform. It would aid in training divers and astronauts in simulated weightlessness.

The Blue Abyss facility would be built at the Aerohub Enterprise Zone and would include a deep indoor pool filled with water and technology and is set for its opening in 2023, to practically serve its testing purposes.

The cost of the Blue Abyss Facility is estimated at around US$212 million and is to be constructed at Aerohub Enterprise Zone at Cornwall Airport Newquay. Coming to its size, without getting into the depth of measurements, the pool would be big enough to fit in the many space module replicas.

“We’re planning a globally unique facility with a wide range of potential uses that tap into so many of the industries that Cornwall and the Southwest are known for,” says Vickers. “Blue Abyss will be a huge research asset for aerospace, offshore energy, underwater robotics, human physiology, defense, leisure, and marine industries, and a fantastic education center for children and university students. Cornwall already feels like our natural home, and we’re delighted to receive such a warm response.”
