In the 1980s, the Italian artist Valerio Adami designed and signed the label on twelve bottles of Macallan 1926. Today, one bottle is worth 1.1 million dollars.

The bottle was set up to be auctioned in Bonhams in Edinburg, Scotland. The highest bidder got the bottle for a whopping 1.1 million dollars. Interestingly, the bidder carried out the bidding via phone and didn’t even show up to collect the coveted Whisky himself.

The whiskey had been distilled in 1926 and kept in a cask until it was finally bottle in 1926. Only two dozen bottles were produced in total.

You may wonder that for carrying a value of $1.1 million, the whiskey has to be of a special quality. Actually, the price tag is not even about the whiskey inside but actually for the label that is on top of the bottle. Valerio Adami designed the labels for 12 bottles while the British artist Peter Blake designed the rest. Peter had also co-created the album cover for The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
