Odeith is a Portuguese street artist who is known as the pioneer of anamorphic graffiti. If you look at his work, you can see that he is still quite ahead of the curve and growing. Unless you look at the anamorphic masterpieces by Odeith from the perfect angle, they appear distorted and strange.
The beauty of these anamorphic masterpieces from Odeith is that when you properly align yourself with these artworks, you get to enjoy bigger-than-life creations that are ready to jump off of the concrete canvas. The recent project by the artist is a realist looking wrecked bus that has been spray-painted on a big concrete block. You cannot tell that it is not a real bus unless you have seen the ‘before’ picture.
Odeith can create wonderful and stunning optical illusions by making use of spray-painting on differently-angled surfaces and corners. These optical illusions include big insects and spiders that appear as if they are ready to jump off the concrete. Odeith can also create intricate lettering that seems to be floating in midair. Odeith while speaking of his anamorphic art, said, ‘I was kind of tired of the conventional regular 3D letters, so I was always searching for something original, this was till I got the first leg from one of the letters coming out of the wall, making a cool effect. Since then, I’m always trying to reach a new level.’
Odeith still does freehand work, but whenever he is working on a complex project, he makes use of a computer to generate a preview of the artwork. This makes sense as well since, in order to get something this complex right, one has to be very accurate. Odeith has been making graffiti art since the 1990s and is always improving his art, thus not only remaining relevant but also becoming an inspiration for aspiring artists who are interested in graffiti.
