An incredible custom dragster that thrilled those watching and won hearts was auctioned off for an incredible $28,750. This car’s unusual design, which drew inspiration from the legendary Drag-U-La coffin car that was highlighted in a 1965 episode of the adored television series The Munsters, is what really sets it apart.
This fantastic vehicle has an 8-foot fibreglass casket for its bodywork and a unique box-frame chassis. Although it looks like a working hearse, the modification puts the driver’s seat behind the back axle, making it more like a dragster. This coffin car has a cinematic feel, with its wide rear wheels covered in racing slicks, organ-style vertical exhaust pipes, and lantern-style lighting. Despite its luxuriousness, it is roadworthy and registered in New York as a 1928 Ford with a valid licence plate.
Towards the back of the casket lies the driver’s compartment, which has a comfortable seat with blue upholstery. Beneath its hideous exterior is a powerful Chevrolet V8 engine mounted well to the rear of the chassis centre. This engine promises strong performance because it has an Edelbrock intake manifold, a Holley four-barrel carburettor, and ribbed valve covers fastened with wing-style bolts. A gold-hued GM TH350 automatic gearbox with painted rose accents accentuates the vehicle’s powertrain.
The vehicle’s subtly gold-painted fuel tank is near the nose, drawing attention to other eye-catching details like the massive exhausts and the R.I.P. gravestone up front. It has no odometer thus it’s impossible to determine the precise mileage.
