Meet Dominic Wilcox, a British designer and inventor who is the brains behind an initiative called ‘Inventors’. The initiative had more than 450 children from South Tyneside and Sunderland, UK to draw their ideas for inventions and out of the 600 submitted drawings, selected a total of 60 drawings to be presented to local makers that would subsequently help with manufacturing of the devices.
The kids were asked to explain the aim of their invention when they submitted it and also explain how it would achieve the mentioned goal. Manufacturers were given only 4 weeks to produce these amazing inventions.
Wilcox said, “The children were the stars and I gained so much enjoyment seeing them getting excited about their and other peoples’ ideas.” The initiative’s website says, “Instead of just putting the drawings on the fridge door as most adults do with a child’s drawings, why not push the ideas as far as they can go taking the power of children’s imaginations seriously and see where it leads to.”
