As the dusk falls in this immense forest, far away from human habitat, the night brings impenetrable darkness. When roaming around these deserted areas, it seems as if the light has been sucked out of the area. But wait a minute, some places show traces of light. What are they? Well, read on to find out.
Your first guess would probably be that you are seeing some light emitting organism like bioluminescent bacteria or plankton. They are more commonly found near the thick undergrowth and other dark areas. But this is no natural phenomenon at all, in reality it is an art project by two people Friedrich Van Schoor and Tarek Mawad.
This amazing color art in the heart of the dark forest was no mean feat. It took Schoor and Mawad six weeks to identify potential places for working their magic. They used projection mapping for creating these beautiful colored impressions. Projection mapping includes a mobile, interacting image to appear at any chosen place. This requires a lot of skilled technique in the backdrop as the effect of colors, shades and surroundings need to be in perfect balance.
Just like Avatar, huh?
Both Schoor and Mawad are 2 of three persons in the world who can understand and express this strange but wonderful piece of art, although they do get a lot of help from other professionals like artists, composers, etc. The art is called a bioluminescent forest, and it was indeed inspired by the works of nature like bioluminescent plants and animals. They set up their gadgetry and projected the fun stuff on different forms od wildlife like plants and their leaves, mosses and even animals like toads. Bilouminscent forest is a unique form of art that needs to be encouraged and promoted simply because of its ability to captivate our minds.
Take a look at how they achieve such results in this video:
