The World’s Most Popular YouTuber Has Asked If He Can Be Twitter CEO

Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson, the world’s most subscribed YouTuber, today requested to be Twitter’s CEO. The YouTuber’s statement comes only days after Twitter CEO Elon Musk polled followers on whether he should continue to lead the microblogging platform.

According to the poll results released on Monday, 57 percent of voters, or 10 million votes, supported Musk stepping down barely eight weeks after purchasing the company for $44 billion.

Musk, who shared the poll results, stated that he would stand down as Twitter’s CEO whenever a suitable replacement is found.

“I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams,” the world’s second-richest person wrote on Twitter.

In a tweet today, Donaldson asked if he could head the social media company. “Can I be the new CEO of Twitter?” he tweeted.

Musk remarked in response to the 24-year-old YouTuber’s tweet, “It’s not out of the question.”

Since taking over Twitter in October, Musk has introduced several new regulations. Over the weekend, he revealed a new Twitter policy that prevented users from promoting or redirecting their followers to their profiles on other social networking platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Mastodon.

However, Musk later apologized for the new changes. “Going forward, there will be a vote for major policy changes,” Musk tweeted afterwards. “My apologies. Won’t happen again.”

Donaldson, who has 16.6 million Twitter followers and 121 million YouTube subscribers, occasionally tweets links to his videos, even though YouTube was not directly addressed in the restriction.

Donaldson has previously attacked Musk’s Twitter agenda, particularly his plans to get YouTubers to join the site by paying them more. “I’d be shocked if you crack that code,” Donaldson tweeted, speaking of Musk.
