The iPhone 15 Pro Could Come Without A SIM Tray, Rumours Say

Apple Inc., which added eSIM functionality to its iPhone XR, XS, and XS Max models, is now rumored to be intending to remove the physical SIM card slot from future iPhone models. Apple iPhone 2023 Pro versions (tentatively designated iPhone 15 Pro) will not have physical SIM card slots, according to a rumor by Brazilian Daily Blog do iPhone. Instead, they will rely exclusively on eSIM technology for connectivity.

Apple revealed the iPhone 13 lineup in September, and while the iPhone 14 is still months away from release, rumors about the iPhone 15 have already begun to circulate online.

eSIM Functionality Available in iOS 12.1

According to Live Mint, the future iPhones will enable dual eSIM, allowing consumers to use two lines at the same time. However, it’s unclear whether non-Pro versions will include a physical SIM card slot or if the SIM card slot will be removed from all iPhones.

Apple’s decision to remove the SIM card slot is unsurprising, given that the company is rumored to be working toward a portless iPhone, and removing the SIM card slot appears to be the first step in that direction.

However, these are merely rumours, and confirmation of the iPhone 15, which is expected to be released in 2023, is still a long way off. It all appears to be conjecture, with no real proof to back up any of these claims. Apple had previously been rumoured to be preparing to remove the Lightning port from devices.

Meanwhile, Apple is rumoured to be aiming to release an iPhone 14 series with storage capacities of up to 2 TB. For next year’s iPhone, Apple is rumoured to be using QLC flash storage. Apple will be able to expand the capacity of the iPhone 14 series to 2 TB thanks to the latest storage technology.
