Construction of The Line, a revolutionary megacity project in Saudi Arabia, recently started by developing Hidden Marina, stretching across its first 1.5 miles in desert terrain. Neom commences its construction of a 170-km (105-mile) linear city through the initial architectural stage of Hidden Marina.
Speaking at the PIF Private Sector Forum, Denis Hickey of Neom stated that the Hidden Marina will reach 500 meters (1,640 feet) into the sky through three modular segments displaying a symmetrical reflective exterior. The phase features such vast proportions that its 21 million square meter (5,200 acre) footprint surpasses the built space footprint of Burj Khalifa by multiple times.
The initial phase of Hidden Marina will welcome 200,000 residents between its 80,000 residential complexes and 9,000 hotel rooms and various fundamental facilities, including educational establishments and law enforcement stations. Intelligent monitoring systems through AI will track how energy flows as well as usage patterns to optimize efficiency standards. The urban planning includes five-minute access to necessities for residents combined with fast rail transportation systems.

The construction of The Line consumes the work of 140,000 employees and has led to infrastructure development that totals $140 billion. The construction of The Line will finish by 2030 to align with Saudi Arabia’s hosting of the 2034 FIFA World Cup, which the city’s tallest floor will host the stadium.
The mayor’s enthusiasm about the development projects continues to face ongoing reservations. The ongoing project reportedly requires 20% of all available steel alongside robotic involvement for its assembly. The Line joins multiple additional Saudi Arabian projects, including the world-tallest JEC Tower, together with Mukaab and luxury resorts. The world watches as Saudi Arabia progresses its urban innovation beyond what was previously imagined.
