Tesla Begins Hiring For Cybercab Manufacturing As It Prepares For Robotaxi Rollout

Tesla is ramping up preparations for its highly anticipated Cybercab, a futuristic autonomous vehicle designed for its upcoming robotaxi fleet.

The company has officially started hiring for production roles. According to Tesla’s website, six job listings in the manufacturing category have been posted for Cybercab-related positions. The roles, all based in Austin, Texas, include maintenance technicians, a tool and die specialist, a launch equipment engineer, and a process engineer. These hires will help establish the production line for the Cybercab, which is expected to begin rolling out in 2026.

The Cybercab, unveiled in October 2023 at an event in Los Angeles, is a two-seater vehicle with no steering wheel or pedals, emphasizing Tesla’s commitment to fully autonomous driving. Until its arrival, Tesla’s robotaxi service will rely on its existing Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.

CEO Elon Musk has long envisioned a future where self-driving technology eliminates the need for human drivers. Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software, still in development, requires active driver supervision, but Musk remains optimistic that autonomy will be achieved in time for the Cybercab’s launch.

Adding to its innovation, Musk previously stated that the Cybercab will not feature a traditional charging plug but will instead use inductive charging—a wireless charging technology that enhances convenience and efficiency. The vehicle is also expected to be priced under $30,000, making it a more accessible option in the EV market.

Beyond the Cybercab, Tesla is gearing up for the launch of additional affordable EV models, with production slated to begin in the first half of 2025. The company is actively preparing across its existing factories, reinforcing its push toward cost-effective, high-volume EV manufacturing.
