Einstein’s theory of relativity still confuses a lot of people today. I cannot begin to imagine what the response would have been when the great scientist released his findings more than a century ago. He must have taken a lot of flak from the public and peers alike. It wasn’t until the application of his revolutionary ideas that people started to believe in what he had to say, and that took decades. For the people who have had difficulty understanding the theory and how the high-speed slows time around you, this amazing teenager’s 7-minute explanation might just be good enough. Ryan Chester is an 18-year-old who won the breakthrough junior challenge and a whopping 400,000$ prize due to his amazing explanation of the theory of relativity. There are two theories presented by Einstein. One is called the special theory of relativity that was published in 1905 while the General theory of relativity got out ten years later. Ryan chose to explain the former. Here it is:
Out of this huge jackpot, 250,000 $ will go to his personal kitty, 50,000 $ to his inspirational professor and 100,000 $ to the school to make a state-of-the-art science lab for the students. Way to go, Ryan and his unnamed yet equally fantastic teacher!
