What if I tell you that there’s a way through which you can convert your regular bike into an electrical one in just 60 seconds? In comes GeoOrbital bike wheel, which is a battery-powered tire that you simply need to install on your regular bike and turn it into a self-driving, eco-friendly ride! The wheel comes in two sizes which the company claims would fit 95 percent of all adult bicycles and would allow the bikes to run for 50 miles at the speed of 20 mph!
The wheel is a durable flat-proof tire which consists of a brushless DC motor, an aluminum motor controller, and lithium-ion batteries. The batteries don’t need to be plugged in. Instead, they automatically recharge whenever the bike is not using the battery, for example, when moving downhill, pedaling, or slowing down to a stop. The installation requires no tools, which means that it can be done under a minute.
GeoOrbital says they have tested the revolutionary tire with hundreds of bikes and found it to be compatible with almost all of them. All it needs is a bike with a 26, 28, or 29-inch front wheel and rim brakes.
The company launched a successfully funded campaign on Kickstarter and raised over $1.2 million dollars in backing, which goes to show how the idea has picked up. The product is now available for preorder on GeoOrbital’s site and will cost you around $800. It is expected to be delivered by the end of February 2017.
