SpaceX has introduced a new power accessory for Starlink that can use both AC and DC power. The accessory, which costs $200, is now available on the official Starlink Shop and is meant to give users more flexibility, mainly for those who are not connected to the grid.
Originally rumored in March and later confirmed by Ukrainian engineer Oleg Kutkov, the new “Advanced Power Supply” is a universal power source for Starlink terminals. It was launched together with the new $1,999 “Performance” Starlink dish, but it can also be used with the standard $349 dish.
This new model is different from the standard power supply because it can use DC power from solar panels or batteries, which RV travelers and remote users have been asking for. In December, SpaceX introduced an $110 DC-to-DC power supply to meet this demand. The new version, though, offers more features and is more flexible than the previous one.

The advanced power supply is able to work with AC, DC, or both types of power at the same time when used with a battery backup. It has a microcontroller that checks detailed information such as power input/output, Ethernet status, and water at the connectors. The LAN port on the router allows you to use Starlink or any third-party router, or you can connect it directly to a network switch.
The power supply weighs 4.6 pounds, which is much heavier than the 1.43-pound standard unit, and it also has a built-in wall or DIN rail mounting system. You get two power cables, one for AC and one for DC.
SpaceX has not explained if the new power supply is suitable for older Starlink dishes. Even so, this update is good news for those who want strong and flexible ways to connect their devices.
