Every new gadget comes with a lot of promises and claims. However, it is very rare to see a company stand up for its claims. However, Sony has taken quite a bold step by demonstrating how waterproof their new walkman is. Can you take a guess how? Well for starters; the walkman comes packed inside water bottles which are filled with water.
The gadget itself is not a new addition and was, in fact, introduced back at CES 2013. The walkman is known as NWZ-W270 MP3 player and back in the day, was promoted via ads where swimmers used the device while being underwater. However, DraftCB which is based in Auckland has found a new angle to promote the walkman by coming up with this unique and ingenious idea of packaging the gadget inside water bottles and made it available at vending machines placed at gyms and swimming pools in New Zealand.
DraftCB in their video related to the campaign have stated; ‘By combining the product with bottled water, we’ve created a world first — the Bottled Walkman. This simple packaging innovation gave us a unique way to display the product, which instantly demonstrated its benefit.’
Waterproofing and Sony go a long way back since most of the devices that come from Sony are waterproof. Even their iconic smartphones are waterproof as well. Who knows when they will start selling those in water bottles as well! You can get one here
