The full portable capabilities of most laptops are not exploited due to their tendency to overheat. With the lack of a desk, the user’s legs suffer due to the heat from the laptop. Jordan Mummert and his team have created the Slate – Mobile AirDesk to allow laptop owners to use their devices in any environment.
Without the Slate or the use of any portable desk, users face poor posture, slow work speed, heat on laps, back pains and even misplaced items such as phones and tablets. But with the Slate, anyone can enjoy the functionality of a desk without compromising on mobility. Made from premium bamboo, the slate is both durable and acts as a good insulator. The perforations allow air to pass through the desk, keeping both the laptop and the user’s lap at a comfortable temperature.
Aesthetically, the Slate is very appealing, with natural curves and a hand-sanded surface. No attention to detail has been spared in making this beautiful wooden desk. The Slate Kickstarter project has went above and beyond it’s $6,500 goal and is currently standing at almost $36,500 at the time of this writing. With a price of $68, the Slate is reasonably priced for the level of craftsmanship put into it, as well as the ease it provides. Images of Slate – Mobile AirDesk can be seen below.
