What you are looking at is Mininch’s Spinner Drive! We all know that different tasks require various kinds of screwdrivers; however, if you don’t want to buy them all; we strongly suggest buying Mininch’s Spinner Drive. This modular screwdriver is being touted as the one screwdriver for ruling them all!
The Spinner Drive comprises of a pen-shaped aluminum drive unit and an aluminum torque wheel apart from an assortment of bits that are housed within a revolver-cylinder-like aluminum/ABS storage unit.
For manipulations that require a finer touch; such as replacing screws in cameras or eyeglasses, you can begin by choosing the appropriate bit and mounting it in the bottom end of the drive unit. Oh, the bottom end is magnetic. The user will then hold the drive unit of Mininch’s Spinner Drive against the screw and press the index finger into the dimple that is situated on the top end of the drive unit. The user can then tighten or loosen the screw by simply turning the lower end of the drive unit by making use of their thumb and middle finger. The bearings featured inside the shaft of the drive unit make sure that it turns smoothly.
When it comes to working the larger or tighter screws, the torque wheel is slid onto the drive unit. You can then turn the unit by holding the wheel in your hand thus applying a higher amount of torque that would have been impossible to achieve otherwise. The magnetic bit holder can also be removed from the drive unit’s end and mounted in the chuck of an electric drill for tasks that are more demanding in terms of power.
The Spinner Drive is, as we write, raising funds on Kickstarter. Backers have two options; the Standard Edition and the Tough Edition. The Standard Edition has bits made from S2 tool steel that has been coated using the corrosion-resistant manganese phosphate. The Tough Edition features SUS420 stainless steel bits that have been coated in titanium nitride.
Backers will be able to enjoy a Standard Edition (silver or black) along with 10 bits and a carrying case for pledging $39. A pledge of $45 will be needed if you want to enjoy the Tough Edition. If the Spinner Drive makes its way to production, the slated retail prices are $64 and $70. Packages including 20 bits are also available!
