Estonia’s Ampler Bikes is setting a new trend in sustainable mobility by unveiling the Nova series—the first e-bikes equipped with USB-C charging.
With the Nova series, which includes both the Nova and Nova Pro models, Ampler introduces a USB-C port mounted on the side of the seat tube. This port allows users to plug in a 140-W power brick, making charging more convenient while also reducing e-waste. According to a press statement from Ampler, these bikes will help cut down on the 11,000 tonnes of charger waste produced annually. The forward-thinking approach also aligns with an upcoming EU directive that will mandate USB-C charging for electronic devices starting in January 2026.

The Nova series maintains Ampler’s promise of delivering an “electric boost, natural feel” while emphasizing accessibility, repairability, and style. If riders do not already own a compatible power brick, Ampler will offer one for sale separately. The integrated USB-C port is capable of fully charging the bikes’ non-removable 336-Wh battery in about three hours—a modest capacity by today’s standards. In ideal conditions and at the lowest power mode, riders can expect up to 100 kilometers (62 miles) of pedal-assist.
Both models in the Nova series feature the same rear hub motor—a 250-W unit that peaks at 400 watts and produces 45 Nm of torque. This motor assists up to 25 km/h (15.5 mph), meeting European market regulations. The motor’s natural and responsive feel is enhanced by a torque sensor located in the bottom bracket.

The standard Nova model is available with either a high-step or mid-step 6061 alloy frame. It is fitted with a 9-speed MicroShift drivetrain, 27.5-inch wheels with Continental tires, Alhonga hydraulic disc brakes, and integrated lighting. An optional rear rack and trailer hitch further boost its versatility. Weighing in at 17.7 kg (39 lb), the standard Nova is priced at €2,990, which is roughly equivalent to US$3,245, though its availability outside Europe has not yet been confirmed.
The Nova Pro model distinguishes itself with premium components that include either Shimano Deore 10-speed shifting or a belt-driven single-speed Gates setup. It comes with 28-inch wheels equipped with higher-grade Continental tires, Shimano Deore brakes, and a shock-absorbing handlebar. A rear rack is also included. Designed to encourage a more active riding stance, the Nova Pro starts at 16.6 kg (36.6 lb) and carries a price tag of €3,490 (about US$3,790).
Shipping for the first batch of these innovative e-bikes is expected to begin in June. A promotional video offering further insights into the Nova series has also been released.
