Samsung Has Unveiled Its New Generation Of Flip And Fold Phones

Leave it to Samsung to make a grand announcement…

At the latest Samsung Unpacked event, Samsung announced the launch of not one but two foldable phones, the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 with an all-new under-display camera which is a first by the company so the hype is real.

The Galaxy Z Fold3 is Samsung’s flagship foldable phone that houses a massive 7.6” AMOLED flexible display in its full glory while the single screen also has an impressive 6.2” rectangular display. Both displays have a 120 Hz refresh rate which give it a sleek performance. The phone has 12GB of RAM, 256 or 512GB of storage space, a 4,400 mAh battery and powered by 2.84 GHz octa core processor. The Z Fold3 is also compatible with the S Pen stylus so now you can easily use your phone like a full hand-held notebook as well.

Coming to the cameras, the device is packed with not 4 but 5 different camera lens to cater to all your photography need. It has a 10MP cover cam and three 12MP cameras around the back consisting of wide-angle, ultra-wide angle and telephoto lens. The fifth camera, the 4MP selfie cam on the inside is the most interesting of them all as it is actually placed under the display, without the need of a notch or hole-punch. This makes Samsung the first major company to launch the under-display camera in the market, putting it way ahead of its competitors. Since it’s a first time technology by the company, we have yet to see how it actually looks and performs in terms of picture quality.

Coming to the Galaxy Z Flip3, it has a 6.7” AMOLED inner display with a 120-Hx refresh rate. It’s equipped with three cameras; a 10MP selfie cam and a pair of 12MP cameras consisting of wide and ultra-wide lens. The phone has a 8GB of RAM, 128 or 256GB of storage space, a 3,300 mAh battery and powered by the same processor as the Z Fold. Users can now do much more without having to open the device such as using Samsung Pay for quick tap payments, shooting pictures and video by double-tapping the power button all the while keeping the phone folded.

Another great news for the fans is the price drop from last time, with the Fold3 priced at $1,799.99 and Flip3 at $999.99. The foldable phones will launch on 27th August in US, Europe and Korea.
