Pitbull Military Drone Jammer Is Ready For Action In The Field

Portable drone jamming devices are not new. They already exist. But, they exist in the form of big guns that are a nightmare to carry around for long distances. The new Pitbull military drone jammer solves that problem and can be clipped on to be worn by dismounted soldiers for hours at a stretch.

The Danish firm, MyDefense created the Pitbull military drone jammer and it only weighs 775 grams without the battery. It can reportedly run for as many as 20 hours on standby and 2 hours when jamming. The device can be activated manually by the users.

Once the device is activated, the internal directional antennas emit radio signals in the 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz, and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) frequency bands up to a range of 1 km. An optional external antenna is also planned to be released that can cover additional frequencies.

The signals from the Pitbull will be able to disrupt those being used to remotely control an enemy drone. This is done without interfering with the soldier’s own radio communication system. MyDefense also recently released a Wingman 103 wearable drone detector that the device can hook up to.

The drone detector will automatically cause the Pitbull to start jamming as soon as a signal of an incoming drone is picked up. It also weighs only 735 grams and has a range of up to 2 km. These devices will change the meaning of drone jammers and replace the big guns with portable versions.
