Transparent earbuds launching by Nothing! (No, we’re not making that up, it’s a real company)
Nothing, the hardware startup company by OnePlus’ co-founder Carl Pei, has just unveiled its first product, the Ear 1 wireless earbuds. Priced at only $99, the Ear 1 is predicted to give tough competition to other affordable earbuds such as Amazon’s Echo Buds, OnePlus’s Buds and Google’s Pixel Buds A. The Ear 1 earbuds provide active noise cancellation and an impressive transparent design so it’ll look like you’re wearing nothing! (please excuse the pun)
Coming to the specs, the earbuds feature an 11.6mm driver paired with Teenage Engineering’s software and hardware, which is well known for its audio electronics. It has two different ANC settings depending on the intensity of the noise cancellation you require; the light mode is for moderate noise cancellation while the maximum mode offers a heavier noise cancellation for settings where there is some heavy machinery or if you’re traveling in a plane. It also has a transparency mode which lets you switch off ANC completely. The earbuds also offer a great battery utilization with up to 5-7 hours in one charge, which is more than the average earbuds’ battery life. And if you have the charging case on hand, then you can easily expect up to 34 hours. The buds are also water-resistant so you can easily wear them during exercise or jogging and not worry about the sweat damaging them.
The Ear 1 has a unique transparent design that lets you see the inside of the earbud where the different wiring and magnets are connected together. This gives it an almost futuristic look and was apparently a challenge to design as most manufacturing companies glue the pieces without worrying about the cosmetics since it’s all covered up. Nothing has made high claims about its Clear Voice Technology that smoothly reduces any background noise so you don’t have to worry about any communication gaps. The app also includes the usual audio tweaking settings, gesture control options and the ‘Find my earbud’ feature.
The Ear 1 will officially go on sale on 17th August but you can pre-order them online at Nothing’s website, nothing.tech (yes, the website exists) starting 31st July.
