Nvidia Reveals Plans To Manufacture Some AI Chips In The U.S.

Nvidia made a major industry announcement about its decision to manufacture all its advanced AI chips within US borders. The technology company Nvidia disclosed its plans to create and test its upcoming Blackwell AI supercomputer chips at its Phoenix, Arizona, facility through a blog post released on Monday. The company has obtained well over 1 million square feet of space for this initiative and continues to construct new supercomputer facilities in Houston and Dallas.

The Blackwell chip production at Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) Phoenix facilities has started, but Nvidia intends to reach mass production levels at domestic sites during the next year. Nvidia continues to pursue its nationwide AI investment strategy by planning to spend hundreds of billions of dollars on AI infrastructure development throughout the next four years. The industry leaders Foxconn and TSMC, together with other companies, are expanding their operations in the United States.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang declared that American soil now hosts the first-ever production of world AI infrastructure engines. The production of AI technologies in America would strengthen supply chains while addressing the growing market demand for these technologies, according to his observations.

The White House declared this development a direct result of former President Donald Trump’s policies through their “Trump Effect in action.” Trump expressed plans to impose tariffs on imported chips but simultaneously supported repealing the CHIPS Act, which President Biden signed in 2022 to provide $280 billion for domestic chip manufacturing.

Huang became the center of attention when he joined Trump at a Mar-a-Lago event that required donors to pay $1 million each. Nvidia secured new U.S. investments, which led the White House to cancel its proposed ban on H20 AI chip sales to China, according to NPR.
