You have all spent the last few days talking about Back to the Future film and how the date that was projected in the movie has come and gone. While some of the prediction have come true from the movie when it comes to technology, the rest of them are on the way, however, you can take out the self-lacing sneakers from that list. Nike has unveiled the legitimate self-lacing Nike Mag sneakers. The first pair has been sent to Michael J. Fox while the public release has been slated for spring 2016.
The first real-life replica of the famous footwear was first revealed by Nike back in 2011. Nike created and auctioned off 1,500 pairs with the earnings directed to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. The profits from this latest model shall also be sent to the same. The price tag will definitely be higher than the predecessor owing to the key design differences in this latest model.
The version that was auctioned off in 2011 didn’t sport the self-lacing technology from the movie, however, the latest version does. The concept has been given the name of power laces and as per Nike, it is a ‘responsive system that senses the wearer’s motion to provide adaptive on-demand comfort and support.’
The shoes were delivered to Michael J. Fox along with a handwritten note from Nike shoe designer Tinker Hatfield that said, ‘as the first, most celebrated wearer of the Nike Air Mag we wanted you to be the first to receive a living pair.’ Here’s to hoping that we get to wear these shoes in 2016!
