People who often drop their phones and ruin their screens will need not to worry about it anymore, thanks to a recent announcement made by Samsung. The company has released information about its latest screen creation and has said that they have developed a flexible screen. The screen managed to survive the rigorous testing and has been safely marked as ‘unbreakable.’
Samsung announced that Underwriters Laboratories had certified its bendable phone screens. UL is an independent third party safety rating company which frequently performs testing for the United States Occupational Safety and Health Administration. According to a company statement, this new phone screen was put through Underwriters Laboratories military-style drop testing. The screens faced 28 drops from a height of 4 feet.
According to Samsung, the 1.7-meter height, which was also involved in the testing, is still significantly higher than the US military standard. UL also tested the screen during extreme temperature simulations. The temperatures used for testing were as high as 71 degrees Celsius and as low as -32 degrees Celsius. This type of screen won’t be found in the latest version of the company’s Galaxy phone. Hojung Kim, the spokesperson for Samsung Display Company, said, “The fortified plastic window is especially suitable for portable electronic devices not only because of its unbreakable characteristics, but also because of its lightweight, transmissivity, and hardness, which are all very similar to glass.”
