Meta Announces A New CapCut Rival Called ‘Edits’

Chinese automotive giant BYD Auto has unveiled the world’s largest car carrier, the BYD Shenzhen, which can transport up to 9,200 vehicles on oceans. The vessel, named after BYD’s headquarters in Shenzhen, undocked from Yangzhou port, a milestone in the company’s aggressive global expansion.

The BYD Shenzhen is 219 meters long, 37.7 meters wide, and can reach a maximum speed of 18.5 knots, with a draft of 9 meters. The ship’s LNG dual fuel technology highlights BYD’s commitment to environmental sustainability. BYD box stationary storage batteries and energy-saving devices reduce emissions during docking and operations in low-emission zones while also improving efficiency.

The BYD Shenzhen is the fourth ro-ro (roll-on, roll-off) vessel in BYD’s fleet, after the BYD Explorer No. 1, BYD Changzhou, and BYD Hefei. But these ships are critical for transporting new energy vehicles (NEVs) to overseas markets. The BYD Explorer No. 1, launched in January 2024, has already made the rounds of Europe and Brazil, while the BYD Hefei set sail with 5,000 NEVs.

The 2024 achievements of BYD, which saw it surpass Tesla to become the world’s largest EV maker, producing over 1.77 million vehicles, underscore its global expansion. The company has expanded to 100 countries, including Japan, South Korea, and other competitive markets. In South Korea, its latest EV launch, priced at just over $20,000, takes on local automakers such as Hyundai. BYD is hoping upcoming models such as the Seal sedan and Sealion 07 SUV will help it gain a stronger foothold in the region.

With the BYD Shenzhen, BYD is accelerating its global presence, and the BYD Shenzhen represents the company’s ambition to lead the international NEV market and continue to grow in 2025.
