iPhone Switching Off Randomly? You Need To Do This Upgrade To Solve The Issue

If your iPhone has been shutting off unexpectedly, you need to update your firmware to the latest 10.2.1 NOW! The sixth-generation iPhone users have been suffering from their phone’s power going down at random, but Apple claims that their latest software update has reduced the issue in iPhone 6s by 80 percent and in iPhone 6 by 70 percent.

Many users of the phones had to plug their phone into an outlet to reset the gadget before it could be turned on, but Apple says that the iOS 10.2.1 update should fix the problem in general. Around 50 percent of iPhone users have already installed the update, and Apple has commented on the effectiveness of the update after collecting statistics from these users.

Thankfully, iPhone 7 users don’t have to fret about the issue. An Apple spokesperson told TechCrunch,

‘With iOS 10.2.1, Apple made improvements to reduce occurrences of unexpected shutdowns that a small number of users were experiencing with their iPhone.’

‘We also added the ability for the phone to restart without needing to connect to power, if a user still encounters an unexpected shutdown. It is important to note that these unexpected shutdowns are not a safety issue, but we understand it can be an inconvenience and wanted to fix the issue as quickly as possible.’

According to Apple, sudden power spikes on some of the older batteries were causing the problem. The batteries were supplying power unevenly and sending these devices into an emergency shutdown. The reason also explains why iPhone 7’s brand new batteries were not affected. Apple says that have made adjustments to iPhone’s power management system to fix the issue.

The company was quick to clarify that the problem was not a safety issue and the affected devices were only within a limited serial number range, especially the ones manufactured between September and October 2015. This announcement was necessary especially considering their rival, Samsung’s notorious history with batteries.
