Indian Billionaire Builds His Own White House On Top Of His Skyscraper

Bangalore in India is home to one of the most luxurious and over-the-top luxury mansions ever built in the world. It is the replica of the White House that he been built on top of a skyscraper. The mansion belongs to Vijay Mallya who is the chairman of United Breweries Group and has always been among India’s most flamboyant tycoons!

Vijay Mallya announced plans of having a mansion modeled after the White House back in 2010. The announcement wasn’t well-received but he didn’t let any of that stop him from building his dream home. The mansion, atop Kingfisher Tower, was still under construction in 2016 when the financial woes became the talk of India. Soon enough, Vijay Mallya had to flee the country for the UK thus leaving his home unfinished.

The sky mansion of Vijay Mallya is located on the 33rd and 34th floors of the Kingfisher Tower and covers an area of 40,000 square meters. It was supposed to feature a wine cellar, indoor heated pool, outdoor infinity pool, salon and spa, gym, and a roof helipad apart from many other amenities. However, it remains unclear as to how much of them were actually completed. The building does look finishes from a distance but a closer look reveals that many of the fine details are still missing.

Vijay Mallya is the son of United Breweries Group founder Vittal Mallya. He fled in March 2016 when lenders and investigating agencies closed in on him. It has been allegedly said that he borrowed huge sums of money and never paid them back. He has been disputing the charges ever since while India has been trying to extradite him from the UK. S.S. Naganand, the senior counsel appearing for the lenders’ consortium, said, ‘Under the money laundering Act, an order of conviction will result in confiscation of property by the government. If money laundering is not proven, the debt remains and what will happen to this property is they (banks) will try to recover dues. There will be an attempt to sell off and recover dues and any sale proceeds will be realized and appropriated towards his dues. If after this anything remains, it will be given to him.’

The sky mansion was developed by Prestige Estates and remains uncompleted so far. We’ll have to wait and see if Vijay Mallya ever gets to live in his sky mansion.
