It looks like Google wants to be a major player in the wearable tech market. With Google Glass already a hit before its release to the public, Google decided to give another common accessory a makeover.
There have been rumors about a Google smartwatch for quite some time now, almost as soon as the Glass was revealed. But we finally have some actual information about the specs of this long awaited gadget. The info that has been leaked on the internet is that Google is looking towards LG to build their first ever smartwatch. This comes as no surprise, since the two companies have worked together on both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 smartphones.
Further details include a 1.65-inch IPS LCD with resolution of 280×280, 512 MB RAM and 4GB internal memory. These specs put the Google smartwatch directly against Samsung’s Galaxy Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches.
Though Samsung has learned from its first Galaxy Gear smartwatch that specs don’t mean anything if the user experience is lagging and limited. Reports also claim that Google Now will play an integral role in the performance of the smartwatch.
It is expected that Google will officially reveal their smartwatch during Google I/O at the end of June. So if you’re looking for a smartwatch to buy at the moment, you might want to wait until you see Google’s offering. It might just be worth the wait!
